How will OMAC meetings be held?
OMAC meetings will be held virtually for the foreseeable future. By group consensus we may choose to meet in person from time to time when circumstances permit.
What will my involvement be?
Involvement would be input via one on one video calls and potentially opportunities where a broader group of participants may come together to discuss particular topics.
Who can join OMAC?
We are looking for payments/treasury professionals and marketing professionals.
These professionals will work in collaboration with us to create a new breed of BNPL designed by merchants, for merchants.
Applications to join OMAC will be accepted from the following sectors:

Why are we forming OMAC?
There is a tectonic shift underway in the US payment ecosystem. We believe merchants and retailers deserve more control and influence over payment pricing, operational requirements, rule setting, solution design and liability.
The BNPL payment solution offers an optimal platform upon which to build a better ecosystem. Partnering with an emerging non-bank fintech, without obligation to traditional payments providers, enables merchants and retailers to shape new products that truly meet their needs and the needs of their customers.
What is the Opy Merchant Advisory Council (OMAC)?
Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) is a fast growing, emerging payment method in the United States. This new payment solution offers both potential advantages and challenges for retailers / merchants and their customers.
Our vision is to build a true partnership with merchants and retailers, allowing them to reclaim the payments component of their relationship with their customers, and helping achieve four objectives:
- Drive top-line sales
- Enhance customer lifetime value
- Optimize the cost/value of using BNPL as a ‘better than card’ payment acceptance method
- Drive consumer loyalty

Larry is a highly regarded Executive Leader known for a relentless pursuit of innovative, value-building strategies that deliver exceptional operating and financial results. Larry has worked extensively across the payments industry. He has served as President of RBS Worldpay, President of Moneris and held senior leadership roles with First Data.
John is CEO of the Merchant Advisory Group (MAG). As CEO, John helps MAG’s 140 plus merchant members to drive positive change and innovation in the payments industry, serving merchants’ interests through collaboration, education and advocacy. Prior to joining the MAG, John enjoyed a 20-year career at Walmart holding various leadership positions in Payments Acceptance, Marketing and Financial Services.
Troy brings more than 25 years experience in credit, payments, and retail, with a proven record of fighting for a more equitable and transparent payments ecosystem
Mark comes with leadership experience in consumer product management along with significant experience in consumer deposits and bank balance sheet funding. He has also chaired the Deposits and Payments Committee of the Consumer Bankers Association and sat on advisory boards with two consumer reporting agencies in the US.
Lloyd brings a wide range of experience across financial services, payments and banking, customer engagement and loyalty, and most recently served on the Board of a patented AI-based platform designed for the corporate travel market.
