What is Financial Hardship?

If there is an unforeseen change in your circumstances that makes it difficult for you to maintain your regular payments, you may be experiencing financial hardship.

Common events that may contribute to financial hardship include:

  • Illness or injury (personal or immediate family member)
  • Unemployment or reduction in income
  • Adverse property event (e.g. house fire, flooding, burglary) or natural disaster
  • Bereavement

Openpay is committed to considering any other reasonable event or circumstances with the aim to help get you back on your feet.

What type of support do we provide?

Openpay assesses hardship on a case-by-case basis. In assessing your application, we may ask for additional information about your situation.
Based on your circumstances, a hardship arrangement could include:

  • Organising a payment plan
  • Moving payment dates
  • Waiving of late fees

We will work together to organise an arrangement that suits your individual situation.

We are committed to ensuring accessing hardship assistance is inclusive, simple, and contains as few barriers as is possible.
